Save hundreds of hours marking orders paid.
This video shows how a payment spreadsheet can be modified to import and mark orders paid.
Step 1: Edit the wp-config.php file
After creating a database, rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php, and enter the database-related information.
Step 2: Upload the files
Upload the folder’s contents to where you wish to install the Pro Package.
It should look like this when you’re done:
Step 3: Create a blank .htaccess file
Fetch this blank .htaccess file if you don’t know how to create one.
To use permalinks, you’ll need to drop this file into your site’s root directory, and make it writable by the server. You’ll later need to visit options / permalinks in the admin area.
Step 4: (optional) Change a few permissions
The following folders should be writable by the server (chmod 777):
uploads uploads/File uploads/Flash uploads/Image uploads/Media wp-content wp-content/cache wp-content/gravatars
The following files should also be writable (chmod 666):
.htaccess sitemap.xml sitemap.xml.gz wp-config.php wp-content/wp-cache-config.php
If you skip this step, the following features will not work: Permalinks, uploads, google sitemap, and the advanced cache.
Step 5: Install WordPress
Go through the normal WordPress installation by visiting your site.
Don’t forget to note down your admin user’s password.
Be sure to check the Semiologic documentation.
Step 6: Enjoy
Log into your site to trigger the Semiologic autoinstaller.
If your site is not working by now, notice the FAQ in the support section. It covers the frequently encountered installation issues.
You’re safe to assume there are no conflicts, crashes, or risks of loss of data if I do not mention them explicitely.
Step 1: Upload the files
Upload the files to the directory in which you wish to install the Pro Package.
If (and only if) you are using Countdown v.1.5 or earlier, backup your dates by pasting them in a text file. You will loose them if you fail to do this.
Step 2: Go through the WordPress upgrade if necessary
Visit your site’s admin area. WordPress will prompt you to upgrade your database if necessary.
Step 3: Reactivate WP-Cache
Upgrading overwrites the wp-cache config file, and disables the cache as a result.
You can avoid this, delete the following file before uploading your Pro Package update:
Step 4: Enjoy
This is a quick video introduction to how WordPress and is geared toward the technical user who wants to increase their basic understanding of how WordPress operates and how they could use WordPress.
The first video describes the basic layout of a WordPress site.
The second video gets a little more involved for the use of widgets.
I hope you found this useful and see how you could use WordPress to make and manage your website.

I was asked recently what was needed to do basic video editing. Specifically take a bunch of video from a camera and remove some jumpy sections between scenes, add some music and burn to a CD for Christmas.
First you must get the video from onto the computer. The most standard way of doing this these days is through a Firewire cable. This is normally marked on the camera as a DV in/out port. The port looks like a small rectangle with one of the long sides pushed in so the cable can only be inserted one way. Most recent laptops already come equiped with a firewire port while most desktops will require a new card to be installed. A firewire card for a desktop will run about $35-$45 and can be installed pretty easily.
You will then need a cable to connect the computer to the camera. Most desktop connectors will require a larger 6 pin connector while the camera uses the smaller 4 pin connector. My advice on purchasing this equipment is to find a local computer guy that can send you to a good place to purchase cables and/or cards. They are available at Bestbuy and/or Circuit City but they can get a bit expensive.
Ok at this point you should have all the hardware you need to get the transfer going. If you connect it all up the computer should recognize that you have connected a new device (just like a usb device) and may ask you if you want to import the data. I would connect it all up at this point to see that you get some connectivity.
The next step will be software to do the editing. I have used Ulead VideoStudio 11 with great success. I found it to be the easiest software to get the results the quickest. You can download a trial copy before purchasing. Look around a little before purchasing, better deals can be found than on www.ulead.com however one stop shopping isn’t bad either.
When running the software you want acquire the video from the camera. This will take the same amount of time as the video is long to transfer the video but once you have it on the computer you can edit away. The real advantage to the ulead software is that it will automatically split the video into scenes so you can easily build a complete video without having to manually cut all the video apart.
Ok that is your quick overview of how to get starting editing video. I’ve left out a number of details but this nutshell should be enough to get you going.
This is a basic introduction to making educational videos by recording the computer screen (often referred to as screencasting).
This will give you all the basics in less than 10 minutes.

NOTE: After the video was made I found one other setting that needs to be changed. Under Options, video options.. set the compressor to “CamStudio Lossless Codec v1.5″
A another video will be posted shortly going over the use of the screen-o-matic screen recording software.
